However, many of these products are not suitable for their intended purpose since they are too thin and allow light to pass through, enabling invasive weeds like ground elder to grow through the sheeting.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"relative flex w-[calc(100%-50px)] flex-col gap-1 md:gap-3 lg:w-[calc(100%-115px)]\">\n<div class=\"flex flex-grow flex-col gap-3\">\n<div class=\"min-h-[20px] flex flex-col items-start gap-4 whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\">\n<div class=\"markdown prose w-full break-words dark:prose-invert light\">\n<p>The best weed sheeting is a woven product that does not permit light to pass through and is available in different widths. It is also easy to cut into various shapes with scissors. When laying the ground sheet, it is recommended to overlap it by 100mm and hold it down with pegs to keep it in place before covering it with a bark mulch or any other covering. Although there are pegs available for this purpose, they can be costly, considering the quantity required. It is better to purchase a roll of wire and cut it into 200 pieces to create pegs that can be pushed through the ground sheeting.<\/p>\n<p>Before installing the ground sheeting, it is a good idea to spread a general garden fertiliser, such as Growmore, at about a handful per meter in the areas where planting will take place. It is also worth considering laying a soaker hose under the sheeting in the areas that will be planted.
