Ivy can certainly be labeled as one of these garden humbugs and can surely give your garden and unattractive and unsightly look. No reason to worry however as simple steps can be undertaken to be rid of this garden nightmare and restore beauty and order to your garden.
Remove and Restore – Here at GardenAdvice our recommendation for the removal of Ivy comes in a few steps. Firstly one should cut the plant stems at the base removing 25mm and then allowing the tops of the plant to die. This process usually takes a few months. Secondly one can begin to peel away the stems of the ivy and after completing that step one can proceed to kill the stump and roots. This is achieved by using up to 4 applications of ‘Round Up’ weed killer onto the foliage. Another product one can consider using is ‘Stump Out’. The use of either will guarantee that the stump as well as the roots will be killed. However one will take the risk of killing other plants around the existing stump as this will affect the soil.
Intrested in learning more about Gardening and how to become a better Gardener? Here at GardenAdvice we offer a wide range of Gardening Courses all designed to improve and increase one’s gardening skills.
