Tips from moss control experts<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

If you are having issues with moss on your lawn, which is common around this time, then here are some tips to help you control the issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wet weather, shade, and compacted soil can all lead to moss growing in your lawn. Moss treatment can come in either a liquid or granular form and often has added fertiliser or seaweed to help grass re-establish after the moss has been treated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Treating moss is usually carried out in spring and autumn, but can be done throughout the growing season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Products that can be used for controlling moss<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to treating moss in lawns, there are a number of products that can be used for effective results every time. Below you can find some of our favourite products for controlling moss<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maxicrop<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Maxicrop No. 2 Moss Killer and Lawn Conditioner is a great liquid option that quickly kills and controls moss in lawns. With the addition of seaweed fertiliser, it helps to encourage healthy growth and the inbuilt fertiliser promotes rapid greening and repair of the turf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We suggest applying this product between March through to October with an application rate of 1.5L of moss killer and conditioner with 5L of water to cover 100m2<\/sup>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We would recommend fitting a suitable nozzle to give a high volume, coarse spray to penetrate the dense moss. Covering 666m2<\/sup>, this fast acting moss killer can show results in just a few hours. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It should be applied twice a year. However, if you feel the need to, it can be applied a maximum of three times a year. Please be advised that a minimum of 40 days should be left between applications. This product should not be applied in drought conditions, frost conditions or if the grass is waterlogged. The grass should be cut three days before treatment and not cut again until at least four days after treatment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two weeks after application, scarify vigorously to remove dead moss and prepare to re-seed to fill any gaps. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amvista G4<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Amvista G4 is a granular moss killer and similar to Maxicrop No.2, this product combines three elements in one, allowing you to control moss, kill weeds while feeding the lawn at the same time. The high iron content of this product will help blacken the moss. Magnesium and calcium have also been added to this mix in order to aid absorption and transportation of nutrients into the roots of the grass. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To get optimum results, apply during the early morning or late evening to avoid the hottest parts of the day. Water the granules if rain hasn\u2019t fallen for 48 hours after application. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This product should be applied between May and August when weeds are growing at their fastest and can only be applied twice during this period, with a six week interval between each application. Once the moss patches have turned black, affected areas should be raked to remove the dead moss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They come in 20kg bags and will cover a total of 625m2<\/sup>, giving each bag excellent coverage. Avoid cutting your lawn 3 days after application and, once the granules have fully dispersed, mow your lawn at regular intervals again. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are some homemade solutions that can be used, such as dish soap<\/a> and vinegar, but professional solutions provide better results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
