It can grow in heavy, medium, or sandy soils, as long as the soils must be well-drained and do not exhibit pooling water after rains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once planted using a drip hose system with help keep the surface of the soil dry in the spring and summer and reduce weeding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The asparagus plant in the summer produces attractive feathery foliage useful for flower arranging and often we plant it in flower borders to add height to the border in the summer months<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the GardenAdvice vegetable garden, we started our asparagus from seed but often it&#8217;s easier to buy plants that are a couple of seasons old and produce a crop the following year.
