Choosing A Shed For A Modern Garden.
When you picture a garden shed the majority of people will imagine a rotting structure hidden away at the bottom of a garden that’s become overgrown with wild flowers. However, nowadays even the most modern of gardens is likely to have some kind of wooden structure incorporated into it somewhere. Garden sheds aren’t necessarily the typical small wooden huts that you imagine anymore, in fact there are some that are quite extravagant and used for many purposes – and none of them involve storage of the family’s bicycles.
When considering the type of shed that you need in your garden it’s important to think about what it’s going to be used for.
In a modern garden for example, where everything has its place, they’re generally really easy to manage because they tend to belong to young couples and families who lead busy and stressful lives and want to be able to enjoy their garden on warm sunny days without having to constantly keep up with the maintenance. In these types of gardens people tend to favour summer houses and other similar structures that aren’t just used for general garden storage. In a modern garden the typical garden shed isn’t usually what you’ll get, instead you’ll find a relaxing space that can be enjoyed by all the family.
If you’re still very much a traditional gardener though, a classic garden shed will probably be just up your street as you enjoy spending a lot of time on the maintenance of the garden so that you can sit out and enjoy the space that you’ve created. However, in order to be able to enjoy the space you need to have somewhere to store all of your tools and gardening supplies which is why a traditional tool shed is the perfect addition to any well-kept garden that’s owned by a keen gardener.

As well as thinking about the purpose of your shed or alternative wooden structure in your garden it’s also important to make sure it’s positioned conveniently in order to make sure you get the most out of it. The amount that you use your shed will ultimately dictate the layout and design of your garden because it will all revolve around the positioning of the shed.
If you’ve chosen a traditional tool shed that you’ll be using a lot then it’s pretty essential for it to be positioned conveniently. If you have a vegetable patch at the far end of your garden for example then it’ll be useful to have it nearby so that you don’t have to think about carrying heavy garden tools up and down the garden.
If your shed/ play house/ summer house is more of a relaxation area than a working tool or potting shed then you might prefer to have it hidden away in a far corner of the garden so that it becomes a real escape from the real world. If possible it’s a good idea to keep it out of sight of the house so that you really can spend a little time escaping your stresses. Although you might want to hide away on certain days, the majority of the time you’re likely to just want to enjoy your garden in which case it’s important for any garden room to be just as much part of your garden as it is a hidden gem.

If you’d like your shed to be a focal point in your garden as opposed to a secretive hide away then nowadays your options are pretty much endless as many companies focus much more on the structural design of a garden shed.
