Raspberry Surprise.
Do your Raspberries Change Color ? – Some gardeners growing raspberries may experience a color change in their fruits. Though it may come as a mystery to some, there are a few reasons why this metamorphosis may occur in your berries. Some studies have linked this color change to different lighting conditions and temperatures or it can also be possible that your canes are grafted and have reverted from their original form. Despite this, when raspberries change color they are still safe to eat.
Change, Change, Change – To identify if your color change has been caused by the graft look at the base of your canes and see if they are coming out from above the crown or below. Snip any that are below the crown and let the upper ones grow . It may take at least another year before your fruit retains its original color. However if your color change may be caused by the temperature or lighting conditions bear in mind that raspberries need ample sun and water for optimal development and thrive in well drained soil.
