Some Good Advice Pays Off.
Plants and Winter – Earlier this year throughout the months of April and May over 5000 of our members and viewers contacted us about winter damage to Yucca plants in the Uk. Many plants were damaged due to severe winter conditions in the Uk, killing the tops of the plants. Although many people recommended removing the plants we at GardenAdvice advised to wait and see if the plants re shoot from the dormant buds or the base of the stems. This advice has proven to be accurate in most cases as many plants are recovering from dormant shoots. When shoots start to grow the dead stems should be cut above the shoots and simply given a basic feed such as ‘Grow More’. Just remember that by the next winter your plants should be covered with a protective fleece from any further damage.
