GardenAdvice Apprenticeships
GardenAdvice Apprenticeships are designed to train fully qualified horticulturists to undertake full time posts within the Gardenadvice business after the apprenticeship.
Gardenadvice horticulturist and botanists are based in knowledge of plants, conservation and environmental issues. Although some of the apprenticeship covers garden construction and landscaping our apprenticeships are not designed to provide you with these skills.
The Gardenadvice Apprenticeship takes the form of in house training working along side a number of full time employees assisting them and external training leading to a recognised qualification in horticulture. Our internal training takes the form of a Journeyman scheme where the apprentice sends time in different section of the GardenAdvice organisations. Some short period of overseas travel might be required.
GardenAdvice Apprenticeship focus on developing the following skills in
Plants – in such aspects of recognition, propagation and cultivation and care
Soil science – in relation to the cultivation and care of plants in different climates.
Climate science – understanding how climate can effect different elements that in turn effect mirco environments
Conservation – understanding how different factors and elements can be influenced to create effective conservation
Environmental control – understanding how environments can be influenced and altered to suit an environmental objective
The position of a fully qualified GardenAdvice horticulturist is to assist our viewers, members and clients with advice and assistance on a wide range of horticultural, conservation and environmental projects ranging from small garden projects to country wide conservation plans normally in relation to plants and conservation issues.
Pay rates
Apprentices under 19 or in the first year of the apprenticeship £2.68 per hour
Apprentices in the second year of apprenticeship under 19 £4.96 per hour over 19 £6.19 per hour
Plus travelling expenses from home to place of work, plus care allowance for other expenses.
Clothing and equipment provided
The current salary range of a full time Gardenadvice horticulturist is between £30,000 to £50,000 per anum
