Planting for the boat seat

Boat seat under development
Seat planting is a method of growing plants in a vertical arrangement that maximises space and sunlight exposure. Two popular schemes for seat planting involve using wires to support the plants.
In the first scheme, wires are strung over the seat and planting a clematis armandii each side of the boat to create an evergreen cover which flowers in May and June with white flowers
The second scheme involves wires strung over the boat and planting with a rambling rose such as MALVERN HILLS or WEDDING DAY ( see David Austin roses ) combined with a clematis jackmanii to extend the flowering period.
Around the base of the seat boat you could use the following plants
Ferns and plants that you could walk on such as sedums, Thyme, Ajuga Saponaria officinalis and chamomile
Plus you could add some large cobbles 150 to 200mm ( see CED cobbles )
