How to Restore an Old Cylinder Petrol Lawn Mower

The lawnmower is a good quality model, so it’s worth attempting to restore it. Since the spark plug still produces a spark, it should be relatively straightforward to get it working again.
Steps to Restore
- Safety First — Disconnect the spark plug before cleaning to prevent accidental starting.
- Cleaning — Give the mower a thorough clean, especially the reels. Once clean, spray the reels with WD-40 to help prevent rust.
- Air Filter & Oil — Clean the air filter. Add engine oil to the sump via the dipstick opening and use the dipstick to check and maintain the correct oil level (standard engine oil is fine).
- Fuel & Starting — Once everything is cleaned and oiled, add petrol. Use some Easy Start to help get the engine running.
- Goal — The aim is to get the mower running smoothly so it can be put back into regular use.
