Cleaning your greenhouse

How to Clean and Disinfect a Greenhouse
Cleaning and disinfecting your greenhouse is an important part of plant care. By removing pests, pathogens, and debris, you can create a healthy environment for your plants to grow.
If the green house is cleaned in the winter or spring before planting it can remove the need in the growing season to use harmful insecticides to control pests such as aphids
Here are the steps on how to clean and disinfect a greenhouse:
• Remove all plants, soil, and debris from the greenhouse. This will help you get a good look at the entire space and make it easier to clean.
• Sweep the floor and wipe down surfaces with a damp cloth. This will remove any dirt, dust, or debris that could harbour pests or pathogens.
• Prepare a disinfectant solution according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Choose a disinfectant that is effective against a wide range of pests and pathogens, such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi.
• Use a spray bottle or pressure sprayer to apply the disinfectant solution to all surfaces of the greenhouse. Be sure to cover all areas thoroughly and allow the solution to sit for the recommended time.
• Rinse all surfaces with clean water to remove any remaining disinfectant residue.
• Optional: If you have any pests or pathogens that are resistant to disinfectants, you may want to fumigate your greenhouse. Fumigating involves using chemicals or gases to kill pests and pathogens. Be sure to follow the instructions carefully and wear protective clothing and equipment when handling fumigants.
• After fumigating, ventilate the greenhouse thoroughly to remove any remaining fumes. Allow the greenhouse to air out for at least 24 hours before reintroducing plants.
By following these steps, you can clean and disinfect your greenhouse to create a healthy environment for your plants to grow.
