You’ve Been Upgraded to Elena AI – Your Personal Gardening Assistant

If you visit your personal section on GardenAdvice.co.uk, you’ll now notice a new button in the bottom right-hand corner called Elena.
Elena is your upgraded personal gardening AI assistant from GardenAdvice and is the advanced sister system to Helene, which was launched earlier this year to answer general gardening questions using AI technology.
What Makes Elena Different?
While Helene was designed as a general gardening assistant, Elena is designed specifically for your garden.
Elena is an Agentic AI system, which means the more information, gardening notes, advice, and updates tp local weather we provide over time, the more useful it becomes.
As your garden develops, Elena continues learning from:
- Notes and advice previously provided by GardenAdvice
- Your gardening tasks and projects
- Seasonal garden updates
- Local weather conditions
- Seasonal gardening patterns
- Pest and disease risks in your area
- Suggested crops, planting times, and maintenance reminders
This allows Elena to provide increasingly personalised answers and recommendations based on your own garden, local growing conditions, and gardening history.
Plant, Pest & Disease Identification
On the left-hand side of the input bar, you’ll notice an image upload facility.
This allows you to upload:
- Plant photographs
- Pest images
- Disease symptoms
- Weed identification pictures
During testing, Elena achieved up to 99% accuracy identifying many plants, pests, and diseases.
For the best results, upload several photographs from different angles and distances. This helps Elena build a more accurate identification and diagnosis.
Questions You Can Ask Elena
Because Elena is connected to your personal garden notes, local weather conditions, and the GardenAdvice knowledge system, you can ask questions such as:
- “What is this pest?”
- “What is this plant?”
- “What disease is affecting this leaf?”
- “What crop should I be sowing now?”
- “What plants should I be pruning in my garden?”
- “What should I be feeding this month?”
- “Why are my leaves turning yellow?”
- “What vegetables grow best in my soil?”
- “How do I improve flowering on this plant?”
- “What jobs should I be doing this week in the garden?”
You can also upload photographs alongside your questions to help Elena give more accurate answers and recommendations. Multiple photographs from different angles often improve identification accuracy considerably.
Because Elena tracks seasonal weather patterns and gardening conditions, it can also warn you about:
- Frost risks
- Pest outbreaks
- Disease conditions
- Watering requirements
- Sowing and planting windows
- Feeding schedules
- Seasonal pruning times
Elena will ask your questions
In response to your questions Elena will ask you question to help provide more targeted advice
Designed Around Privacy
As always, your personal information is not stored inside Elena or publicly within your online garden section.
The system works using:
- The first three letters of your postcode
- A unique GardenAdvice-generated garden code
This allows Elena to identify approximate local weather conditions and seasonal growing patterns without revealing personal location details.
Future Developments
Elena is shortly being developed into a dedicated phone app, making it even easier to use while you are out in the garden.
Future planned features include:
- Saving plants you discover while out and about
- Creating personal plant wish lists
- Improved garden reminders and notifications
- Enhanced seasonal pest alerts
- Voice interaction and garden note taking
- Integration with your GardenAdvice online section
Working Alongside Your GardenAdvice Advisor
Elena is designed to work alongside your GardenAdvice advisor — helping answer quick questions, identify plants and problems, and keep track of your garden throughout the year.
Combined with your online garden section, it creates a continuously developing gardening support system tailored specifically to your garden and local conditions.
As Elena develops further, it will increasingly become a gardening companion that helps you make better gardening decisions throughout the year while still being supported by the GardenAdvice team.
