Tree seedlings in your garden borders

As you tend your garden flower borders creating the perfect conditions for your plants you also create the perfect conditions for weeds and other seeds such as tree seeds such as sycamore or ash seeds.

If you catch them in the early stages of growth they can be dug out and transplanted into a local wood or hedge row or you can send them in for our Young gardener’s tree project.

Once established they will need to be dug out which can cause damage to the other plants in the border or you can cut them back with some loppers as low as possible and then treat the remaining stump with some stump killer
