Autumn lawn care

With the summer being very dry one of the most important jobs with your lawn is to spike it with a fork once the soil become soft again with the autumn rains. With a garden fork create 12 holes per square meter pushing a 4 tined fork into an area of a square metre 4 times. This helps the grass plants to root further down into the soil creating a lawn which will have a better colour in the summer months.

In addition if you are not interested in maintaining or creating a lawn with strips etc you could overseed with micro clover which combines with the existing grass to create a lawn that needs less moving and maintains a better colour and a more useable space in the winter and summer months
