Creating a wildlife pond

In many ways developing and creating a wildlife pond is easier than building a formal pond. With its sloping banks and beaches created from cobbles its a lot easier to work with the water levels as they change through the year, higher in winter than in the summer.

As with all ponds they key is in creating enough volume of water to even out the temperature in the summer and winter. With a low volume of water on a small pond it often heats up to quickly in the summer months causing accessive algae growth and green water.
