Constructing Decking Over Manhole Covers.

Can you tell me the best way to construct decking over manhole covers?

We normally lay our decks on 100mm x 25mm sawn treated timber which is laid on pillars made from bricks.This method allows us to adjust the level of the frame to allow for the unevenness of the patio being used as a base,plus it also allows drainage water to flow under the decking.With regard to your question on the manholes,I would build the frame so that the framework goes around the drain covers and then screw the decking boards to the frame, so that if you need access to the drain you simply unscrew the boards and remove.This is simpler than building trap doors etc.which will always be uneven.For More information
