Grass Under Trees.
Question
How can I grow grass under my oak trees?I have carried out a soil test and the ph is 5.5
Answer
Growing grass under oak trees:The oak leaves make the soil more acid as they break down.As the soil reaches Ph 5.5 to 5.75 it is a good idea to apply lime to raise the soil Ph.Because of the shade under the trees, you then need to sow a species that will deal with the shade, such as Poa Nemoralis (wood meadow grass) the trade off is that because of the shade it cannot be cut too short or it will not re-grow..
