Planning Your Tomato Crop With Changing Weather Conditions In Mind.
Its that time of year again when its time to sit down and start planning what vegetables you are going to grow in the year ahead. As in recent years the weather has been extremely changeable its worth taking this fact into account and panning a number of different varieties of the same vegetable to give you a wide flowering and fruiting season to spread you risk in the light of unseasonable weather conditions.
Tomatoes being a good example, rather than going with the mono crop theory where the whole crop is the same variety and more importantly flowers at the same time leaving it susceptible to non pollination through bad weather conditions that will not allow bees to fly its better to have a number of different varieties to make sure that the flowering period is extended and then at least some of the fruit will be pollinated and set by insects such as bees.
