Pruning Clematis Alpina.
Question
How do I prune my clematis alpina?
Answer
They are best pruned after they have finished flowering in the early autumn. Prune back to form a frame work and re-tie any shoots that need to be tied in.Then in the spring check the stems to see if any have died back over the winter or have been killed by the frost. If they have then follow the stem back until you find a live bud and cut the damaged stem back to this bud. Also, remember that clematis like to have cool roots,so placing some stones around the base or planting with a perennial geranium will help to keep the roots cool. For More information.
