Re-Pointing A Patio.
To point a newly laid patio or to re-point a patio you need to mix 4 part sand(ideally a builders sand)to two part cement.Mix with water that has a few drops of Plasticizer(available from a builders merchant or a few drops of washing up liquid.Mix until creamy and then allow to stand for a few minutes until the mix becomes slightly crumbly.
Then place some of the mixture on a small board and push it into the gaps between the paving slabs with a small builders trowel, being careful not to get to much outside the gaps between the paving stones.
After completing that and the gaps are full, use the handle of the trowel to run down the gap or joint to stick off the mortar.
Next leave to dry for a a few hours and the with the trowel flick off any lumps of mortar that have been dropped on the paving then the next day sweep over with a light soft brush.
