Steep Bank Problem.
Question
I have a coastal garden in an elevated position and the bank at the back of my house is tumbling away how can I shore it up?. .
Answer
Any construction is going to be expensive so we suggest that first you try the traditional method. That is,in the winter, cut some common willow tree stems into 500mm lengths ideally about 50 mm across and hammer them into the bank. Over the winter, and in the spring, they will root and start to grow. The roots will stabilize the bank and help prevent any more slippage.Once every three years you will need to pollard or cut back the willow plants that result to help keep them under control.
