Carnation From Cuttings.
carnations they are not very long lived plants and need to be renewed from cuttings every few years. If you have any growth that is still healthy I would take some cuttings or ‘pipes’and start again. They root very quickly in about 10 to 20 days, take the side shoots from the main plant place them in a small pot of silver or washed sand or you can place a number of them around the edges of a larger pot.Keep the sand moist at all times.Once you see roots growing from the base of the pot you can then remove them from the pot and re pot them into 100 mm pots with normal potting compost ready to be grown on.
