Ivy On House Walls.
Question
I’ve heard that ivy growing on bricks can be problematic for the mortar, but I don’t want to just rip it all down in case I damage the brickwork. Can you tell me if there is an optimum time or way of removing the ivy to limit the damage done now and in the future?.
Answer
Ivy on your house walls needs to be controlled in the summer.Cut the stems of the ivy at the point you would like to stops its growth, then leave for 8 weeks until the upper part of the stem has died and gone brown and then you can gently peel the ivy off the walls without damaging the brick work in that area..
