Large Conifer Growing Near To House.
A large conifer growing near to your house can potentially damaging the house however I would not cut it down in one fell swoop. The ground surrounding the tree has got used to a certain amount of water being taken from the soil by the tree, cutting it down can changes the water table dramatically and lead to subsidence.I would take advice from a qualified Tree surgeon or surveyor. It may be better to reduce the tree over a number of years. The worst soils for subsidence are clay and apparently Victorian and Edwardian houses do not have such deep foundations as some other properties. For more information contact the Arboricultural Association.
