Moving Perennial Plants For An Area Infected By Horse Tail Weed.
Moving perennial plants infected with horse tail weed.Often an area over run with horse tail can be difficult to control. Its best to start a fresh by removing the plants and treating the area with a weed killer such as round up.
In the case of perennial plants they should be dug up and all the soil removed from the roots and washed in water in a bucket. Then planted up into suitable sized pots for about 6 weeds in the spring to see if any of the horse tail weed has been transported with the perennial roots. Then once you are sure its safe you can replant the plants back into your garden. If you are unlucky and transport some of the horse tail weed with the roots of the perennials you can treat the new horse tail shoots as they re-grow with roundup weed killer painted directly onto the new shoots.
