Feeding A Laurel Hedge
Laurel hedges are a classic and attractive choice for homeowners looking to add some greenery to their yards. Proper feeding is essential for keeping laurel hedges healthy and lush. Feeding helps promote lush foliage growth, encourages strong root development, and helps keep the hedge looking its best. It also helps the hedge resist disease, pests, and drought. Fertilizing a laurel hedge regularly helps the hedge retain its shape, color, and vigor.
With feeding your laurel hedge, I always think that Growmore is a good all round fertiliser as it is equally balanced in Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potassium. Ideally the fertilizer you use does not what to be to high in nitrogen as this can cause problems of to much growth especially in the autumn which causes soft growth with is unsuitable for over wintering.
To feed a laurel hedge, you should use a balanced fertilizer, such as a 10-10-10 or a slow-release granular fertilizer. Spread the fertilizer evenly on the soil around the base of the hedge, taking care not to get it on the foliage. Water the hedge thoroughly after applying the fertilizer to help it soak in. Fertilize your laurel hedge once a year, in spring or early summer, for optimal growth and health.
