Monday:

• Water container plants thoroughly.
• Start pruning spring-flowering shrubs that have finished blooming.
• Sow beetroot, carrots and parsnips directly into the soil.

• Remove weeds from the garden and patio.
• Plant summer-flowering bulbs such as gladioli and lilies.
• Thin out seedlings that were sown earlier in the year.
