Re-Potting Large House Plants.
Re-Potting large house plants at this time of year(January) is a project many gardeners undertake.Although pot size is one of the key factors to controlling the size of most house plants.Re-potting is an essential part of keeping plants healthy.Ideally You need to re-pot before the plant has become to root bound.Moving up in pot size by 50mm or two inches at a time is ideal, then the old pot is removed from the root ball, take away the old loose compost on top of the root ball and gently remove some of the old compost from the sides and slightly pull out the roots.Re-pot with new compost ideally the same type as the old compost, making sure no air pockets are created in the compost. Finally soak the newly potted plant with water to make sure all the compost settles down, stand for a short time and then place back into its final position.
