Please could you give me an idea of which plants I could plant under my garden trees.

Planting under trees it does depend a bit whether they are deciduous trees or coniferous/ evergreen trees.There are plenty of suitable plants for under deciduous trees,there are a vast array of ferns,Skimmias,Sarcococca (beautifully scented in winter),Rhododendrons(depending on your soil type) Hellebores,Snowdrops,Cyclamen,Brunnera,Pulmonaria,Epimediums,Foxgloves.
