With wildflower meadows and areas, you will always attract other unwanted plants such as dock plants or nettles. Although nettles are great for insects they need to be controlled otherwise they will spread and take over the meadow or area is best carried out in the autumn when the meadow has been cut back. This can be carried out by hand weeding or spot treating using a weed stick to spot treat the unwanted plants.
It’s also important to match the plants and flowers you are using to create the wildflower meadow to your type of soil, some plants are suited to chalky soils and other plants are suited to heavy soils
