Creating some notes and advice on a frame to support an outdoor grape vine
Installing some wires for the grapes and attached drawing
- Add three wires above a third of the way up the existing pole for grape support, evenly spaced.
- Normally, holes would be drilled in the piping for the wires, but this is challenging after installation of the posts
- Suggestion: Attach turnbuckles to the post, totaling six turnbuckles (three on each side) to the existing pole using 2.5 wire.

- Secure the turnbuckle to the post by wrapping the wire through the hole multiple times.
- To prevent turnbuckles from slipping down the post, use grit film from Tool Station to cover the wire and allow it to dry for a week.

- Install wires between the turnbuckles (three wires total), using two clamps at each end of the wire for secure attachment.

- Ensure turnbuckles are fully extended before installing the wire, then slightly tighten to remove tension.
- Consider adding wooden extensions at the bottom of each post (as shown in the diagram) to support the weight of the grapes later in the year.
