MyGardenTeam Online Members Areas Get a Major Elena AI Upgrade
The MyGardenTeam online members area has been updated, bringing a new generation of Elena AI-powered gardening support to members.
Try the MyGardenTeam Demo with the updraded Elena AI and Garden Border designer
The latest version of MyGardenTeam combines the experience and practical gardening knowledge of GardenAdvice.co.uk with new AI tools from Elena, your personal GardenAdvice gardening assistant.
Elena can now do much more than simply answer gardening questions. She can help you identify plants, keep track of the plants already growing in your garden, build a wish list of plants you would like to grow, save useful gardening advice and help you design new or existing garden borders.
Your own online gardening assistant
The updated MyGardenTeam service is designed to become a useful ongoing gardening companion rather than something you only use when you have a problem.
Members can ask Elena questions about their garden whenever they need help.
You can ask about:
- Plant identification
- Plant care
- Pruning
- Planting
- Pests and diseases
- Soil and growing conditions
- Garden design
- Choosing plants
- Seasonal gardening jobs
- Problems with existing plants
- Ideas for improving your garden
Elena can use the information you provide about your garden to give more relevant advice and help you build up a useful record of your gardening activities.
Save plants directly to your garden
One of the new features is the ability to save plants identified by Elena directly to your Garden Plants list or wish list
For example, you might take a photograph of a plant in your garden and ask Elena to identify it.
Once identified, the plant can be saved to your garden plants or it you are away visiting a national trust garden and see a plant that takes your fancy, take a picture and identify it with Elena AI and add it to your garden plant wish list.
Over time, this creates an online record of the plants actually growing in your garden.
This is particularly useful for larger or established gardens where it can be difficult to remember the names of everything growing throughout the year.
Build your Plant Wish List
Elena can also help you create a Plant Wish List.
If you are discussing a plant or see a plant in another garden you might like to add to your garden, it can be saved to your wish list rather than being forgotten.
This means your MyGardenTeam account can gradually build into a personalised list of plants you are considering for future planting.
Your Garden Plants list records what you already have, while your Plant Wish List records what you would like to add.
Save useful questions and gardening advice
Another important improvement is the ability to save questions and advice provided by Elena.
Instead of having useful information disappear into an old chat conversation, important advice can be saved for future reference.
This could include advice about:
- How to look after a particular plant
- When to prune a shrub
- How to deal with a pest or disease
- Recommended planting combinations
- Soil improvement
- Seasonal gardening tasks
- Garden design ideas
- Planting recommendations
This creates a growing personal library of gardening information relating to your own garden.
New Garden Border Designer
The updated MyGardenTeam service also introduces a completely new Garden Border Designer.
The Garden Border Designer is designed to help gardeners create planting plans for new borders or improve existing borders.
You can use it to explore planting ideas and develop a planting plan based on the type of border and the plants you want to grow.
Rather than simply asking for a list of plants, the system can help turn those ideas into a practical border design.
This can be particularly useful when starting a new border, redesigning an existing area or trying to work out how a collection of plants could work together.
Design a new border
For a new border, the Garden Border Designer can help you think through the planting requirements and create a proposed planting arrangement.
Improve an existing border
It can also be used when you already have a border but want to improve it.
You can identify the plants you already have and use the designer to develop ideas for additional planting and a more complete planting scheme.
The aim is to make garden design more accessible without requiring gardeners to become professional garden designers.
Bringing AI and practical gardening together
The important difference with MyGardenTeam is that the AI is being developed specifically around gardening and horticulture.
Elena is part of the wider GardenAdvice.co.uk service, bringing together gardening information, practical experience and AI technology.
The objective isn’t simply to provide another general-purpose chatbot.
It is to create an online gardening assistant that can help you understand your garden, remember what is growing in it, plan what you want to grow next and keep useful gardening advice available when you need it.
And, because MyGardenTeam is an ongoing service, Elena can become more useful as you continue to use it.

MyGardenTeam – ongoing support for your garden
The new features are part of our continuing development of MyGardenTeam as a complete online gardening support service.
The idea is simple: your garden changes every season, so your gardening support should be there all year round.
With Elena AI, saved garden information, your plant lists, your wish list, saved gardening advice and the new Garden Border Designer, MyGardenTeam is becoming a much more powerful tool for planning, managing and enjoying your garden.
