Description
General Notes:
Agapanthus ‘Torbay’ is a delightful and refined variety, offering a lighter colour palette and a graceful habit. It’s well-suited to small gardens, courtyard planters, and path edges where its subtle tones complement more vibrant planting.
Soil Type:
Prefers free-draining soil – sandy or loamy with added grit is ideal. In pots, use peat-free compost mixed with horticultural grit for good drainage.
Location:
Full sun is essential for flowering. Ideal for pots on sunny patios or borders that receive at least 6 hours of sun per day. Offers excellent performance in coastal and urban gardens.
Pests and Disease Problems:
Generally disease-resistant. Watch for slugs and snails on new shoots. Avoid waterlogging to prevent root or crown rot.
Propagation:
Divide clumps every 3–4 years in spring. Can also be grown from seed, although flowering may take a few seasons.
Pruning, Cutting Back & Dividing:
Remove faded flower heads to prolong display. Cut back yellowed foliage in autumn. Lift and divide clumps to rejuvenate and promote flowering.
