About the Young Gardeners Club
The Young Gardeners Club, run by GardenAdvice.co.uk, is a unique initiative designed to support young individuals under 16 years old whose parents or guardians are members of GardenAdvice. The club provides opportunities for young people to learn gardening skills, grow their own plants and trees, and take part in real-world environmental projects — all while being supported by our expert team.
Learning by Doing
Our young gardeners gain hands-on experience by growing vegetables, flowers, and trees, often working alongside the GardenAdvice team. The focus is on practical learning, helping young people develop a strong understanding of plants, soil care, and sustainable growing techniques.
Tree Growing and Carbon Offsetting
One of the club’s key activities is our tree-growing scheme, where young gardeners grow trees from seed. These trees are later planted to help offset the carbon generated by our plant delivery system. For every tree planted, the young gardener receives £2, giving them a sense of reward and purpose while contributing to a greener future.
Working with the GardenAdvice Team
Young Gardeners Club members usually get involved through their family’s participation in a GardenAdvice one-day gardening course or our MyGardenTeam service. They work directly with our experienced horticulturists to assist with gardening tasks, tree planting, and ongoing projects — gaining valuable real-life gardening experience along the way.
Growing for a Better Future
The trees grown by our young members are used in carbon offsetting and community support projects. These include initiatives that fund school meals, provide trees to local green spaces, and promote biodiversity. Our scheme has the capacity to grow and plant up to 100,000 trees per year, with a direct environmental and social impact.
How to Join
Membership is open to young people whose parents or guardians are part of the GardenAdvice community. If your family has taken part in one of our gardening courses or is involved in the MyGardenTeam service, your child may be eligible to join the Young Gardeners Club.
