Winter Fruit Tree Care Service
Expert Pruning and Maintenance Service for fruit trees and bushes
As winter approaches, it’s the perfect time to give your fruit trees the care they need to thrive next season. Our expert team at GardenAdvice is here to help with a comprehensive winter pruning and maintenance service, designed to keep your apple, pear trees, and fruit bushes in optimal condition.
For just £75, we’ll handle the pruning of larger trees. You can find more details and book the service here.
Here’s how our process works:
- On-Site Chipping: We’ll bring a small electric Bosch chipper to chip the prunings on-site, so all we need is access to a standard 24-volt electric point. This eco-friendly method recycles the waste, helping your garden stay tidy.
- Winter Wash: After pruning, we’ll apply Vitax winter wash, a natural oil-based solution. This helps to eliminate overwintering pests hiding in the branches, giving your tree a fresh start come spring. We also apply a grease band on the main stems to prevent pests from climbing the tree.
- Soil Test and Fertilisation: A quick soil test helps us determine the pH level. If necessary, we’ll apply Growmore fertiliser and lime to ensure your soil is balanced and your trees get the nutrients they need.
- Pheromone Traps: As a part of our service, we’ll send pheromone traps in March, which you can hang in your trees to reduce the risk of pest damage. For more information on these traps, click here.
Pear Trees and Pollination: If you have pear trees, it’s important to note that they generally require cross-pollination from other pear trees in the area. However, if your tree has been producing fruit successfully in recent years, it may already be self-sufficient.
Our winter care services not only ensure your fruit trees are pruned and healthy but also prepare them for a fruitful spring. The GardenAdvice winter fruit tree pruning service runs throughout the UK from October to March To learn more about how to care for your fruit trees in winter, check out our guide here.
