Help the GardenAdvice Young Gardeners Tree Project
As you prepare your garden for autumn and winter, you may come across some tree seedlings, especially sycamore, ash, and oak, sprouting in your borders. Rather than letting these young trees end up in the compost heap, consider giving them a new lease on life by participating in the GardenAdvice Young Gardeners Tree Project as a tree donor..
What You Can Do
- Identify and Collect Seedlings: As the leaves fall and the trees enter dormancy in early winter, this is the perfect time to dig up any young seedlings you find in your garden.
- Donate to the Project: Instead of discarding these valuable seedlings, donate them to our GardenAdvice Young Gardeners Tree Project. Our young gardeners will nurture them in pots until they are ready to be planted out in local woods and community areas throughout the UK. Or if the tree seedlings are big enough we can plant them directly without the need to be potted on.
- Get Involved in Reforestation: By contributing to this project, you’re not just clearing space in your garden – you’re also supporting a vital reforestation initiative. Planting more trees helps combat climate change, supports local wildlife, and enhances the beauty of our natural landscapes.
How to Donate
- Postal Donations: You can send your seedlings to us by post. Email us for full instructions on how to prepare and package them safely.
- Collection Service: We also offer a collection service throughout the autumn. Simply contact us to arrange a convenient pick-up time.
By donating your garden seedlings to the GardenAdvice Young Gardeners Tree Project, you’re playing a direct role in fostering a greener future. Together, we can make a significant impact on our environment and teach the next generation the importance of sustainability.
