Discover the Unexpected Benefits of Our Root, Shoot, and Share Programme
At GardenAdvice.co.uk, we are always looking for new ways to make gardening a more fulfilling and affordable hobby. One of our favourite programmes, Roots, Shoots, and Share, has brought some unexpected benefits to both experienced and novice gardeners alike.
The concept is simple: we take cuttings from a wide variety of plants, from roses to hydrangeas, and root them. Once rooted, these cuttings are sent out to our MyGarden team members to grow in 75-100mm pots, using John Innes specially developed compost. After a period of growth, they are ready to be planted out later in the year.
While saving money is certainly a key advantage, what our members have reported as a surprising benefit is the joy and satisfaction that comes from growing their own plants from scratch. From the moment the cuttings take root, the plants progress quite quickly, giving gardeners a unique sense of pride and accomplishment as they grow and nurture them. It’s this hands-on involvement that truly deepens the gardening experience.
Although it’s easy and convenient to buy plants from a garden centre, growing your own from cuttings taps into a deeper, more personal connection to the process. Many of our members find that this added effort satisfies a gardening niche that goes beyond simply filling up your garden.
The Roots, Shoots, and Share programme is exclusive to our MyGarden team members, many of whom have completed a one-day gardening course with us. We are thrilled to see how this initiative is not just about propagating plants but also nurturing a stronger bond with the art of gardening.
