Hydrangeas Available for Root, Shoot, and Share

We currently have an exciting selection of Hydrangeas in various forms, ideal for different garden spaces and gardener preferences through our Root, shoot and share scheme for our MyGardenTeam members. However, it’s important to note that Hydrangeas are being greatly affected by climate change in the UK. With increasingly extreme summers and prolonged periods of intense heat, these beautiful plants can suffer. To ensure they thrive, Hydrangeas now ideally need to be planted in a semi-shady position to protect them from scorching temperatures. Here’s what we have available:
- Hydrangea paniculata
A popular choice, this hardy shrub features stunning, cone-shaped flower clusters that change from white to pink as they mature. It performs best in dappled shade to avoid the heat stress caused by prolonged sun exposure. - Blue Species Lacecaps (yet to be identified)
Offering a delicate and intricate display, these blue lacecap Hydrangeas are a beautiful mystery. As with other Hydrangeas, they will thrive in a semi-shady spot, helping to shield them from the more intense summer heat. - Hydrangea serrata ‘Bluebird’
Known for its lacecap flowers, this variety displays soft blue blooms surrounded by deep green foliage. It’s a more compact Hydrangea and, like the others, should be positioned in partial shade to prevent wilting during extreme heat. - Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Endless Summer’
A truly remarkable Hydrangea, ‘Endless Summer’ continues to bloom throughout the season. This variety offers large, mophead flowers that can vary in color based on soil pH. Be sure to plant it in a semi-shady location to safeguard it from the intense summer sun, ensuring the blooms last through the heat.
