Winter fruit tree care notes
Autumn and winter months are key months for producing great summer fruits, such as apples, pears and nectarines from your fruit trees freestanding trees or trained against a wall or a fence as a fan, or as an espalia shape.
During the winter months a lot of organic control methods can be applied to prevent pests from affecting the fruit in the summer months such as winter moth
So the techniques used are simple techniques, such as grease bands, applied to the main stems to stop winter moth. Females climbing up into the tree in September and October to lay eggs.
And winter wash which contains natural oils that kill overwintering pests, eggs that have been laid by pest in the late autumn in the nooks and crannies of the craggy branches, and the cracks in the trees bark.
